Friday, September 24, 6-8 pm & Saturday, September 25, 12-4 pm ($95 per session)
This two day acrylic painting workshop will focus on stimulating the senses, encouraging creativity and coaxing imagery through hands on activities, demonstration, and discussion. Participants will be encouraged to develop their unique artistic voice. This class approaches painting as a process of discovery based on experimentation, observation and improvisation. Both beginning and advanced painters are welcome as the creative use of materials and freedom of interpretation provide a rewarding opportunity for all skill levels. Art materials will be supplied for you, bring a smock and a sketchbook. Class is limited to 10 students, minimum of 5.
Rainey Kellogg's "Dancing With Paint"
Workshop; September 13 - 7-9 pm $30
Session; October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3 &10 - 9:30-12 pm (6 weeks/$150)
You are cordially invited to "come and paint" with artist and creative coach Rainey Kellogg. "Dancing with Paint" workshops were designed to unleash personal creativity in a free and fanciful way by learning and playing together. This session is recommended for people who have a desire to paint but somehow can't quite get started and for others who want to "loosen up" their paintings. Rainey teaches life lessons about fear and fun, working hard and relaxing, learning to enjoy the process of creating and loving what you do.
Illustration teen & adult
Instructor: Carrie Stickan
Saturday, 1-3 pm, September 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (6 weeks $140)
Develop and refine classical drawing skills by using techniques and methods of the scientific illustrator. This class will provide a great opportunity for intermediate and advanced artists to bring their drawing skills to new levels of accuracy. Each class will focus on drawing one particular object (such as a pinecone, shell, botanical specimen, etc.), which will allow students to finish the class with a series/collection of quality illustrations. The methods of measuring and modeling in this class can be applied to illustrate photographs, allowing students to choose their subject as a final project and put their new creative skills to creative use.
Mixed Media Collage

Artistic Dialogues: making written and visual statements through the art journal
September 10th, 7 - 9 pm, $20 level: beginner to intermediate
Learn transfer techniques that will take work to a new level! If you are new to Art Journaling, bring a blank page journal no larger than 8 x10 inches and UHU glue sticks and we'll get you started!
"Paper Packets" September: 20 & 21 2010, 7 -9 pm, $20 level: intermediate to advanced
Our Paper Packets collaborative experiment is all about green art, recycling and repurposing papers altered by Mother Nature. Packets will be assembled in September, hung outside and then removed in late February. We will gather to make relevant works from our papers in March and early April. On Earth Day, 2011, we'll have a show!
Two packets will be assembled, one to be hung outside at the Studio and one for your home. Please bring:
- Something to tie your bundles: string, twine, wire, ribbon etc…
- Items for your packets, examples of things to include----papers, maps, scrapbook papers, copies of old photos or originals, rusty objects, book pages, newspapers, toilet paper rolls, crepe paper, tissue papers, post cards, old letters, tea bags, coffee grounds, steel , clay wire, keys, key rings safety pins, red onion skins, other foods, baby wipes, pages from old diaries, sheet music, envelopes, cards, paper clips…you get the idea. Anything goes!
Collage Crate
October 15, 18 & 22, 7 - 9 pm, $30 level: intermediate, teen & adult
Repurpose a "cutie" crate or other box into an object de art. Bring soft gel matte medium if you have some fun papers, bring those too. Crates provided. Join us for some great art and conversation.
Altered Shoes
November 12 & 15, 7 - 9 pm, $20 level: all levels of experience, teen & adult
Make a statement on a pointe shoe or other "fancy" satin shoe! Bring your enthusiasm! we'll suplly all the rest. (If you have old point shoes, please bring them to work on. Used shoes will be available for purchase at $5.00 each. Fee collected when you arrive.)
Abstract Landscapes: Winterscape
January 14, 20, & 21, 7 - 9 pm, $30 level: beginner to intermediate, teen & adult
A landscape will be assembled from altered papers. Please bring any other papers that you would like for this theme, soft gel mate medium and brushes for your medium. Substrate provided.
"Paper Packets" continued...
February: 24 & 25 2011, 7 - 9 pm, $20 We will the open the bundles. Any papers not dried can be taken home for drying where you can assess if you want to alter your papers further. Those that you want to alter can be done the following night. Plan on bringing your packets inside to dry at least a week before we meet. You can bring them with you the second night if you wish to alter some of them further.

March 10 & 11, 24 & 25, April 7 & 8 2011, 7 - 9 pm. $60 Works to be created. We will have illustration board available cut into various sizes. IF you want some other substrate, please bring that along, other substrates might include watercolor paper (300 lb) or masonite board (no need to frame if the boards have at least an ½ inch cradle), canvas boards (no bigger than 11 by 14.) Please Bring:
- Substrate of choice (if you do not want to work on illustration board)
- Soft gel matte medium
- Variety of brushes
- Acrylic paints (if desired)
- Ideas or thoughts for your works
- Any additional papers or images (i.e. for transfers) that you may want to use as focal images

Oil Painting

Tuesdays 10:00-1:00 pm September 14, 21, 28, October 6, 13, 20 (6 weeks $150)
Whether a complete novice or an experienced painter, this is the perfect place to begin or continue your oil painting adventures. Enjoy the queen of the mediums as you learn painting techniques and color-mixing. Through discussion, demonstration and hands on painting you'll learn to create color harmony through the use of a limited palette, deepen your understanding of oil painting with additive and reductive methods of applying oils and exercise your ability to percieve and paint values. Fresh Air

Tuesdays 10-12 pm
With Mother Nature's guidance, aspiring artists will render lively interpretations of natures bounty. Use pencil & pastel to capture seasonal flowers, fruits, fern and foliage in still life arrangements. Students will learn to draw what they see while exploring gestural and expressive line, exaggeration and distortion.(4 weeks $60)

Drawing
This popular course is a must for anyone seeking to improve their drawing skills. If you have always wanted to draw or feel you need improvement, this class provides you with the techniques to develop your abilities. Learn to draw realistically from sight, use perspective, render with expressive line, study proportion and shape, add value and shading and enjoy both the process and the results. You can reach new levels of expression when you gain an understanding of the principals of drawing through thoughtful, progressive exercises.
Bring large newsprint pad, medium vine charcoal, kneaded eraser and Ebony 6B drawing pencil.
The Potter's Table
Thursday's, 4:30 to 6 p.m. $20 grades 5 to adult
The perfect medium in which to explore your inner child. Learn the fundamentals of working with clay and explore a variety of techniques to make kiln fired, glazed ceramics. Demonstration and hands-on application of methods provide the framework for this class. Guided projects enable you to learn the methods and provide the inspiration to take you on a creative journey all your own. Expect to go home with decorative and sometimes functional, one of a kind handcrafted treasures. (4 weeks $80)

Years ago we all loved to paint ceramics with acrylic stains. What ever happened to that favorite pastime? Well, we're bringing it back and it's high time too! Decorative painter Judy Norland brings her expertise to guide you and teach techniques. (Finished pieces are sealed but not kiln fired.) Bisque ware is available for purchase.
