Teaching Oils at The Studio

Lori paints a wide variety of subjects, from still life to cityscape, figures and one point perspective interiors and landscapes. " I believe that people leave something of themselves on the things that they create, the things that they love and the things that they use. The ghost of a moment becoming ghosts of many moments. That is what I try to paint. You can see the way it thrills, when light falls on this thing or that, filling the moment with memories or hope".

Mostly self taught, I have many teachers that I have chosen at a time when they are needed. I owe much of my success to Robert Howard, writer of Gouache for Illustration and The Illustrators Bible. I have also studied alongside other noted realist painters, my animator husband and one very special comic book artist. I had a lot to learn when I started painting. Always rising to each new challenge, always revealing a mountain on the other side. I am determined to continue learning and growing, finally knowing for sure that I will never get to the end of this learning- I hope not.

Whether a complete novice or an experienced painter, this is the perfect place to begin or continue your oil painting adventures. Enjoy the queen of the mediums as you learn painting techniques and color-mixing. Through discussion, demonstration and hands on painting you'll learn to create color harmony through the use of a limited palette, deepen your understanding of oil painting with additive and reductive methods of applying oils and exercise your ability to percieve and paint values.
